Dr. Nasib Chand Maan, a great stalwart and connoisseur of Dentistry and achiever of distinction and honour of LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD FROM HON'BLE CHIEF MINISTER OF PUNJAB passed away leaving behind the memories and reminisces of his amazing contribution and meritorious achievements. He was an eminent and renowned Pediatric Dentist with great name in Dentistry. He was Member of Indian Society of Pedodontics and Preventive Dentistry (ISPPD) since beginning of the Society. He was pioneer of School Dental Health Education Programme. Initially Punjab was the only State in which School Dental Health Education Programme was successfully implemented. He had devoted and dedicated himself in entirety to the cause of dental health. He was a noble soul bestowed and was gifted with idealistic personality as well as super human qualities and everyone was impressed from his angelic embodiment. He has left an indelible impression on the minds of his admirers and well-wishers. Dr. N.C. Mann was a genius and will be remembered for long for his sacrifices, rare and unusual capability and competence. In reality he was a committed person and toiled very hard to lead the dental profession in Punjab to a very high and envious position. He made an amazing contribution to dentistry quite selflessly and unprejudiced to anyone. His marvelous achievements are testimony of the fact that he lived and died for the cause and betterment of dentistry. There can be no comparison as very few people have risen to such a distinguished and illustrious position and status. He was pride of dental profession and we were fortunate to have had an esteemed and honored personality in ISPPD. It is our proud privilege to recall and commemorate his sacrifices, marvelous deeds and achievements which will be great tribute to him.

His death has created a great void and is an irreparable loss to the Pediatric Dental profession which can never be compensated by any means.

Dr. Nasib Chand Mann was born on 25 th May, 1943 in Punjab. He did BDS from Dental Wing, Govt. Dental College, Patiala. He joined Civil Medical Services in 1968. He completed MDS in Pedodontics from Government Dental College & Hospital, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar in the year 1976. He was promoted as senior Dental Officer in 1979. He was awarded National Overseas Scholarship for higher studies by Govt. of India at Royal College of Surgeons London (UK) in the year 1980. He rose to the position of Additional Director Health Services and after retirement, worked as Senior Consultant in the faculty of Christian Dental College, Ludhiana from 2001 to 2010. He was instrumental in initiating Dental Health Care Programme in Punjab and had launched 17 fully equipped mobile dental clinic vans, (one for each district) in the year 1994-95, a unique example of Oral Health Services in India. Always in pursuit of research, he also completed Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) Financed Research Project on Comparative Study of Periodontal Health of People living in sub-mountains and plain areas of Punjab in the year 2004. In recognition of his services and contributions to dental services and dental education he was conferred and bestowed with Life time Achievement Award by the hon'ble Chief Minister of Punjab, S. Parkash Singh Badal on 31 st March, 2013.
