Dr. Samir Dutta left for heavenly abode on Friday, April 14, 2017, after a brief illness at Rohtak. This benevolent soul will be reminisced for his remarkable contributions to Pediatric Dentistry. An endeavor bolstered with passion and pursued with finesse is what defines Dr. Samir Dutta's journey in the Dental profession.

He was born on October 01, 1960 at Howrah. He did his graduation in Dentistry from Calcutta University in 1984. Later, he completed his MDS in Pedodontics in 1988 from PGI, Chandigarh. Dr. Dutta was regarded as an immaculate teacher and clinician.

He was a prodigious visionary and served as a Professor at Government Dental College and Hospital, Rohtak for more than a decade where he received the “Best Pedodontic Department” award at national level in 2016. He was also conferred the “Award of Excellence in the subject of Pedodontics.”

An expert on fluorosis mitigation, Dr. Dutta conducted various nationwide programs under Government of India, Ministry of Health. He was a dedicated individual who loved teaching and who was passionate about dentistry. His interests included athletics and swimming.

Truly, “A teacher affects eternity; he can never tell where his influence stops.”

We, the pediatric dental fraternity, mourn the demise of this legend and pay tribute to Sir.

May his soul rest in peace.
